CD History:
Even though CDs have majorly went down in popularity and sales, they have had a large impact on the way music is now played and shared. The first CD prototype was created in 1979 but it took 3 years for a finished product to be shared to the public. Shortly, after the first prototype was started companies Phillips and Sony teamed up to strengthen the prototype and create the product we know today. There was various answers that I found on what was the first CD created globally which was; The Visitors by Abba, 52nd Street by Billy Joel, and Chopin by Claudio Arrau. CD sales and popularity started to decrease in 2008 with the invention of iTunes music and now has developed even more with all available musical apps. I could not find the first song ever published on iTunes but the most popular song of all time is Shape of You by Ed Sheeran.
Why Were CDs Invented?
CDs were invented to find a way to increase music storage and improve sound quality. The discs were more durable and affordable to a larger audience.
