For this discussion, I used the song, "The Best of Both Worlds," by Hannah Montana (Miley Cyrus.) This song is featured on the album Hannah Montana and is the theme song from the Disney television show Hannah Montana.
Biographical Information:
This song was written by Matthew Gerrard and Robbie Nevil, who would go on to write many more songs for this show and Disney. The song made its global debut on March 24, 2006 as the theme song in the Disney channel hit show. The song is preformed by stage/character named Hannah Montana who is played by Miley Cyrus and based in the United States.
Role of this Song:
This song tells the story that the main character Hannah Montana/Miley Stewart is living with. This character lives a double life; normal high schooler by day and pop singer and performer by night. This song shows the juggle and the good and bad of living two lives. This theme song is kept for all several seasons of this show because this juggle is a consistent theme in the show.
Opinion:
I think when I watched this show as a child I took this song and its meaning on the base level. I knew this song was about the main character living two lives and just left it at that. Now looking back on the song, I think it is extremely relatable. I think most people find the varying aspects of life hard to juggle and almost like living multiple lives. For example, I find being a student and mother very taxing aspects of life. These two together feel like competing aspects in my life.
